G7™방식 소개

GRACoL 위원회는 Idealliance 산하 분과 조직으로 1996년에 설립되었으며, 고품질 컬러 인쇄를 위한 자료 개발과 최신 인쇄 기술 교육을 수행해 왔습니다. 이를 통해 인쇄사, 인쇄물 발주자, 디자이너가 보다 효율적으로 협업할 수 있는 환경을 제공하고 있습니다.

G7™ 방식은 GRACoL 의장을 역임한 사진가이자 컨설턴트 돈 허체슨(Don Hutcheson)이 ISO 표준을 기반으로 개발한 컬러 및 공정 제어 방법입니다. 기존 TVI 측정 방식에 더해 그레이 밸런스(Gray Balance)와 NPDC(Neutral Print Density Curves)를 정의함으로써 다양한 장비 간 컬러를 일치시키는 혁신적인 방법론을 제공합니다.

G7™은 GRACoL7 사양을 지원하는 캘리브레이션(교정) 방법으로, ‘G’는 그레이 밸런스를 의미하며 ‘7’은 ISO 12647-2에서 정의한 7가지 표준 인쇄 색상(C, M, Y, K, Red, Green, Blue)을 의미합니다.

원래 하프톤 라미네이트 교정 시스템을 위해 개발되었으나 현재는 오프셋, 그라비어, 플렉소, 잉크젯, 염료승화, 전자사진, 스크린, 사진 인쇄 등 다양한 인쇄 공정에 적용되고 있습니다. 단순한 1차원 커브를 이용해 복잡한 ICC 컬러 매니지먼트 없이도 서로 다른 이미징 시스템 간 시각적으로 매우 유사한 컬러 매칭을 구현할 수 있으며, 이러한 이유로 미주와 아시아 지역에서 널리 사용되고 있습니다.

Overview of the G7™ Method

The GRACoL Committee is a division of Idealliance and was established in 1996. The committee has developed various resources for high-quality color printing and provides education on emerging technologies that influence printing workflows and commercial offset printing. Through these activities, the GRACoL Committee supports an environment in which printers, print buyers, and designers can collaborate more efficiently.

The G7™ methodology is a color and process control system developed in accordance with ISO standards by Don Hutcheson, a professional photographer and consultant who previously served as Chair of Idealliance GRACoL. By defining gray balance and Neutral Print Density Curves (NPDC) in addition to the traditional TVI measurement method, G7™ provides an innovative methodology for matching color across different devices.

G7™ is a calibration method that supports the GRACoL7 specification. The “G” refers to gray balance calibration, and the “7” refers to the seven primary colors defined in ISO 12647-2 printing standards: cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), black (K), red (M+Y), green (C+Y), and blue (C+M).

Originally developed for halftone laminate proofing systems, G7™ is now applied to a wide range of printing processes, including offset, gravure, flexography, dye sublimation, inkjet, electrophotography, screen printing, and photographic printing. Using simple one-dimensional curves, G7™ achieves close visual color matching between different imaging systems without relying on complex multidimensional systems such as ICC color management. For this reason, the G7™ methodology is widely adopted across the Americas and many regions in Asia.

G7+ 인증

프린팅유나이티드얼라이언스에서 개발한 새로운 인쇄 캘리브레이션 사양이다. 모든 인쇄 기술, 인쇄물 및 응용 분야에서 인쇄 출력, 그레이 밸런스 및 인쇄 색조를 최적화하도록 설계되었다.

G7+는 현재 인쇄 및 컬러의 글로벌 표준으로 전 세계 수 많은 기업에서 널리 채택되어 사용되고 있는 G7 방법론을 강화한 것으로, 기존의 상업 인쇄를 비롯해 패키징 인쇄와 새로운 디지털 인쇄 기술 및 워크플로우 전반에 걸쳐 최적의 컬러 정렬을 제공함으로 모든 인쇄 제작 공정에서 품질의 일관성을 유지할 수 있도록 지원한다. G7은 2005년 출시 이후 오프셋, 플렉소, 토너, 그라비어를 포함한 대부분의 4색 인쇄 방법의 용이성, 품질 및 효율성에 혁명을 일으켰다. G7+는 다음의 공정에 최적화되어 있다.

GRACoL의 시각적 유사성을 유지하면서 텍스타일, 윤전 오프셋, 신문 인쇄 및 잉크젯을 포함한 광범위한 인쇄 시스템에서 그레이 밸런스와 색조(tonality)를 개선한다.
고농도 잉크젯 인쇄에 있어 부드럽고 채도가 높은 컬러를 얻을 수 있다.
컬러 인쇄물의 뉴트럴 그레이를 보다 정확하게 표현하기 위해 SCCA(Substrate Colorimetric Color Aims)를 사용한다.
컬러 매니지먼트 없이 캘리브레이션된 시스템에서 정확한 ICC 프로파일과 실물과 같은 이미지를 얻을 수 있다.

G7+™ Certifications

G7+ is an expanded specification that augments classic G7® with new logic, algorithms, and features, but with a similar overall appearance. G7+ is designed to work equally well with all printing technologies and offers increased value and effectiveness for a wider range of markets and applications while preserving the value of existing G7 workflows.

G7+ enhances the legacy G7 methodology, which now serves as the baseline for numerous widely adopted print and color global standards, to provide optimal color alignment across traditional commercial print, packaging, and new digital print technology and workflows for consistency across all print production processes. Since its introduction in 2005, G7 has revolutionized the ease, quality, and efficiency of most 4-color printing methods, including offset, flexo, toner, and gravure.
